2021
Ladies Pot Luck Lunch (hosted by Geri) along with an Artisan Bread Tutorial October 30th! We have a lot of great cooks in our club. Lunch was awesome and everyone enjoyed the artisan (no knead) bread. I asked for everyone to bring a bowl. I had all the basic (4; YES that's all you need w/o kneading) ingredients. Everyone did a great job of their bread and were able to take them home and add whatever they wanted such as cheese, jalapeno, herbs, sundried tomato etc. It was great fun (as usual)!!
Ladysmith Show 'N Shine August 21, 2021! One of the first shows of the year! Very busy with well over 300 cars... biggest show for Ladysmith ever!
Had a wonderful get together at Glenda's for Ladies Lunch on July 6, 2021! It's been a long time since we got together and it sure was nice! The weather was great and we ate outside on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful gardens! The table was set up beautifully with her gorgeous china... many thanks to Glenda for opening her home for us!
Cruise led by Ron on May 16th to the Kinsol Trestle in Shawnigan Lake area. Wonderful trip with 6 mustangs, 1 Mercedes & 1 Corolla (guess who)! A good time had by all! After the cruise, Ron & Karen kindly invited the group to enjoy their garden & a cool bevvy... thanks Ron & Karen!

Karen H held a Ladies Lunch at her home on Thursday, December 17th. She made an amazing soup for us; Hearty Tortellini! We all brought a bite to share; fantastic lunch! This resulted in more recipes added to our recipe book. Perfect venue for a snowy day! Thanks Karen!
Clint arranged a lunch for the guys on the same day at Smokin' Georges BBQ Restaurant. I hear they all enjoyed! Thanks to Clint for arranging!
Christmas Dinner was held at Montana's in Nanaimo on Saturday, November 28th. We had originally booked our dinner for the Pipers Pub, but sadly they closed down a few days before our party. It was a scramble to find a new venue, but we managed and it was enjoyed by all of us.
As usual, Vicky was our game host and a GOOD one! We played a few games that caused much laughter. One that stands out included passing a marshmallow on a small toothpick from one to another WITHOUT using your hands... all done by mouth! Very entertaining indeed. We played other great games and had a gift exchange also.
We have started a PCMA Recipe Book for our members and passed them around that night.
Ladies Lunch was organized by Iline W and held at the Nest Bistro in downtown Nanaimo on November 6th. These events are a great way to be introduced to some wonderful restaurants in the area. A good time was had by all of us! Thanks Iline for organizing!
October 29th, we met at the Boston Pizza in Parksville for dinner followed by the privilege of a tour at Oceanside Kustoms by the owner, Paul Uren. He does customs, restorations, modifications etc on pretty much anything including vintage, classics, hot rods and so on. He has a small shop in Parksville (behind Boston Pizza) and does impressive work. He has been invited by Gene Winfield to assist him doing a roof chop at next years BC Classic & Custom Car Show at the Tradex Centre and to demonstrate metal fabricating techniques. Boston Pizza Dinner:
Had a good turnout at the PCMA Hamburger BBQ at Al & Geri's on September 12th. The weather behaved perfectly (of course we ordered it beforehand). A good selection of pot luck goodies were brought and enjoyed by all! Unfortunately, the host did not get any pictures. If anyone has pics, please send them to Geri.
If you haven't been to Ladysmith, you are missing out on a great little town. Ladysmith asked us to help with parking, registration etc 3 years ago for their annual Show & Shine. In return, for the past three years, they have generously donated part of their proceeds to our non-profit club. The proceeds that we receive from Ladysmith go towards our Sam Bailey Memorial Trades Award.
Take a little run through their town during the Christmas Season and check out their Christmas Lights Display; you won't be disappointed.
This year, the show was held on Saturday, August 15th. Although the weather wasn't great at the start, there was still a decent turnout. Many of our members were on hand to park and register vehicles and sell t-shirts. Way to go PCMA and a BIG thank you to Ladysmith (and especially Duck & Tammy) for including us!!
Cruise to Port Renfrew - Sunday, June 28th. Organized by Steve and Darryl. We had 7 Mustangs in total and one (Ford) truck. Weather was very warm, but cooler in Port Renfrew. Sixteen of us enjoyed lunch at the Port Renfrew Pub. Very enjoyable day!! Looking forward to more cruises in the future!!
PCMA Ladies enjoyed another lunch on Saturday, June 27th at the Page Point Bistro near Ladysmith. There were only 5 of us, but the nice part is that we all got to ride in one car (thanks Karen E). Thanks to Iline for organizing this event! We will postpone any further Ladies lunches until the fall.

Iline organized a PCMA Ladies lunch on Friday, May 8th. We went to Asteras Greek Taverna in the old quarter area of downtown Nanaimo. A good time was had by all! Iline will be organizing our Ladies lunches on a monthly basis.

Ron & Karen from Auto Check on Bowen Road in Nanaimo opened their shop for PCMA members to use the hoists and other equipment to work on their mustangs. Ron was there helping anyone that needed a hand. Many thanks to both Ron and Karen for their generosity in opening the doors on their scheduled day off! If anyone has pictures from this event, please let Geri know so they can be posted here.
The PCMA's AGM (Annual General Meeting) was held at Al & Geri's along with a pot luck supper. As usual, our members did not disappoint. We had a great turn out of 25 and enough food for 100. Thanks to all who came, helped and brought their great dishes!
After the meal, we had our meeting and elections for the club executive. A little bit of new, but most 'same oldies' that are doing a great job!
2014
PCMA's Christmas Party was held on Saturday, November 27th at Ron and Karen's. The feast was outstanding.... a bbq'd turkey and salmon were provided and cooked by Ron and Karen and the appies, veggies and desserts were provided by the rest of us. We had about 25 members attend and a great time was had by all! The "Naked Grapes" performed for us (NO; they were not naked). We enjoyed so much that most of us just watched. Bob H. apologized to the band saying that the attendees (except himself) were too old to get up to dance, but it didn't go unnoticed that he wasn't on the dance floor either! Having said this, Helen and Clint weren't too old to dance as you will see in the pic below. Special thanks to Ron and Karen for hosting this event!!
We had a tour (self guided) at the Merridale Cidery on Sunday, September 21st. The weather was perfect for a cruise and although we didn't have many attend, the few that were able to come were a pleasure to cruise with. We had lunch and cider tastings while we were there and a nice walk-about around the beautiful property.
Now that summer is over, our socials are underway again. The Ladies and Guys both had lunches on the same day (separately); September 19th. The Ladies had a 5k walk on the trail around Westwood Lake and then went for lunch at the Westwood Lake Bistro! The meal was great and the camaraderie was every bit as good.
I hear the guys had a great time too. They started with a walk from the Wellington Pub parking lot all the way into the Wellington Pub! It also happened to be Bob's birthday. Happy Birthday Bob!!
The Ladysmith Show 'n Shine was held on August 16th with 140 cars registered. The weather was a little worrisome with a bit of rain in the morning, but it turned out sunny and very warm.
We had a great group of 13 members on board to help with parking, registration and sales etc. Eleven of our members had their stangs in the show.
Ladysmith once again shared the profits with our club which enabled us to give another substantial sum to the Sam Bailey Memorial Trades Award. Many thanks to Ladysmith!!
On July 29th, we had our regular Tuesday night meeting at a not-so-regular place; the Port Theatre in Nanaimo. One of our own members, Jim Whiteaker, who was originally a board member (President) of the Port Theatre, kindly set this up for us. We were welcomed by Lisa Desprez (Administrative Assistant) and Bruce Halliday (General Manager) who kindly, after our short meeting, led us on a great tour of the Theatre which we all enjoyed immensely! The weather was perfect and a few of our 'stangs were proudly displayed on the sidewalk right in front of the building, with the remaining on the sidewalk all around the building. Thank you so much Jim, Bruce & Lisa!
The Nanaimo BathTub Days Street Fair Show 'n Shine was held downtown Nanaimo on Saturday and Sunday, July 26/27th. This is a new event and PCMA looked the registration and parking for this event. All of the proceeds from registration are going towards the Sam Bailey Bursary Award. Many thanks to all that came out to help and especially to Clint for all the time and work he put into this venue!
The Guys Garage Day was held at John B's on Saturday, July 19th. We hear that it was a fun day for those who attended. If you have any pics you would like posted, please send them to the Webmaster to be posted here.

The 2nd annual PCMA pot luck BBQ was held at Al & Geri's on June 22nd. The food that everyone brought was over the top once again. A great time was had by all including a little hummingbird that decided to enjoy the campfire. After checking everyone out, he landed and sat for a few minutes on Clint's camera while in Bob H's hands! She stayed long enough for all of us camera buffs to get a shot or two. Of course, Bob could not get a picture as he had to keep her highness's perch still. That's ok Bob, here are some pics below.

Guys' Garage Event was held on June 7th at Al's place. It was a warm sunny day and there were about eleven guys in all. Al served hamburgers and the guys had a good time. When Clint left, he showed what kind of muscle a Mustang can have!
The PCMA Ladies got together for lunch (our second monthly lunch) on June 6th at a place that is dubbed "Nanaimo's Best Kept Secret". It was fabulous, thus I am not going to post the name as I don't want to give it away and find that there is no room for us the next time we go! There were seven of us in total and the meal was fabulous!
Next month, Iline is coordinating our lunch and she has chosen The Westwood Lake Bistro. This day will include a walk around the lake. Date and time to be announced. I will send out an email to the PCMA Ladies with details.
VIMA's Spring Spectacular was held at Steve Marshall Ford in Nanaimo on Sunday, May 25th. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. It rained for most of the time. Just the same, there were some beautiful cars on hand along with hot dogs and hamburgers put on by the Scouts.
It was good to see three of our members adding their cars to this event.
Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang held at Steve Marshall Ford Lincoln in Nanaimo on April 17th followed by a cruise to our local A & W. Despite the torrential rain, we had a great time! Many thanks to our secretary, Clint, for organizing this event!

Some of our lucky members attended the "Car on the Hoist" event at Auto Check on April 12th. Eight cars spent an afternoon on the hoists at Ron's shop for oil changes etc. After working on the cars, a bbq followed! A great time was had by all. Many thanks Ron for 'hoisting' this event! When the PCMA Presidents' mustang gets finished, we will be begging Ron to hold another event!
A pot luck supper at Al & Geri's place was held on March 22nd. We had about 22 members attend. After a great combined effort dinner and dessert including an over-the-top 'chocolate fountain' dessert by Vicky, we asked everyone to write down their ideas for what they would like to see our club do. Everyone participated and we got some great ideas including a hoist event at Ron's Shop (Auto Check), Guys Garage events, Ladies Luncheons, Cidery and Wine Tours, Cruises, Breakfasts and many other great ideas too numerous to mention that will start going into effect soon. A good time was had by all.
PCMA celebrates its 10th anniversary this month (February, 2014)! John kindly brought in a beautiful cake to our meeting to share with our members.

In November, Pacific Coast Mustang Association members, Bob Houston, (right) and James Whiteaker (left) present Dawn Anderson of The Salvation Army with a cheque for $500.00 for the Kettle Campaign.
The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign is the Salvation Army’s largest fundraiser and helps their Community Services Programs, (emergency hampers, clothing and furniture), Meal Program (serving lunch and supper) and Emergency Shelter.
